Updates for Families: May 1, 2026
Dear ˿Ƶ Families,
Welcome to May, a time of growth, reflection, and celebration! Students are working towards important milestones in their educational journeys, preparing for, or actively participating in provincial testing, and getting ready for what’s next. We are proud to celebrate student achievement and recognize the meaningful role of families and ˿Ƶ staff in supporting student success.
My message today comes on National Principals’ Day! We recognize principals and vice-principals and celebrate their commitment to fostering safe, welcoming and vibrant school communities. Their leadership and dedication are fundamental to the well-being and success of students, staff, and school communities.
May is also Speech and Hearing Month – an opportunity to celebrate the vital role of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs) in helping ˿Ƶ students learn and communicate in many different ways!
In keeping with the theme of student achievement and staff recognition, we look forward to highlighting Education Week from May 4-8. This week offers an intentional moment to recognize all who contribute to public education and bring to life our shared #WeAre˿Ƶ values and mission as a school board.
Next week, as part of Canadian Mental Health Week, students and staff are encouraged to reflect on the importance of connection to mental health and follow on Instagram and Facebook to take part in a fun, daily connection challenge!
And as we approach the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People on May 5, we are reminded of the importance of continued learning in our journey toward reconciliation. This observance and other days of significance are available through ˿Ƶ’s and .
Sincerely,
Rita Russo
