On Monday,June 1, ˿Ƶ schools will celebrate Ontario Dayby recognizingsignificantachievements andcontributions of past and present generations,andhighlightingOntario’simportant rolein Canada!The Ministry of Education is supportingOntario Daylearningtostrengthen community andasense of belonging, build civic awareness,andenhancestudents’ understanding of the diverse people who have shaped the province.

In June, we recognizeNational Indigenous History Monthas an opportunity forstudents and stafftoengage in learning and reflection about Indigenous cultures,perspectivesand histories.Students and staffcontinue to build on the important work that takesplaceallyearlong, supporting a deeper understanding of past,currentand future experiences ofIndigenous peoples in Canada.

We also celebratePride Month in June, aspartofour commitment to creating inclusive, identity-affirming learning and working environments for2SLGBTQQIA+ communities, andas we work to supportacceptanceand inclusionall year round.

Next weekisNationalAccessAbilityWeek(May31–June6),atime tocelebrate thevaluablecontributions of all persons withdiverse abilitiesand reflect on how we caneliminatebarriers toaccessibilityandtake steps towards a moreinclusivesociety.

Thefirst week of June also has aspecialfocusofSchool Crossing GuardAppreciationWeek!We say thank youtothe manycrossing guardswhohelp students travel to and from school safely every day.

Summer School

Summer School registration is open for a wide variety of courses. Guidance Departments at secondary schools are available to help students register. More information is available on the school board website.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten Webinar: Special Education & Inclusive Classrooms

New and current Kindergarten families joined us last week for a short webinar designed to support families and caregivers of children with special education needs as they prepare for Kindergarten at ˿Ƶ.

STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests

Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO) is continuing the “opt-in” program for next school year. The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in is shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families who have a Parent Portal account.
